LEXINGTON --  At its annual fundraising gala, Lauren’s Ladder announced a $36,000 donation to The Dragonfly House Children’s Advocacy Center and Davidson County Schools to support the Compassionate and Resilient Schools initiative.  Through this donation, all 36 Davidson County Schools will receive $1,000 to fund training and opportunities to support the behavioral, emotional and educational growth of children.

“Lauren always wanted to be a teacher,” said Lori Frank Cecil, in a video to announce the donation. “This donation will help all children in every Davidson County school, these are all of our children, and the Board of Directors is so honored to make this important donation.”

The Compassionate and Resilient Schools program has been in place in Davie Schools for several years, and is in its first year as a pilot in Davidson County with the support of Superintendent Emily Lipe and with leadership from counselors at The Dragonfly House.

More than 350 community leaders and supporters attended the fifth annual Lauren’s Ladder Gala on Feb. 22, 2020.   All proceeds are reinvested in the community to support organizations and causes in Davidson County in memory of Lauren Cecil.
